A huge well done to both Year 6 teams who played in the Basketball tournament on Thursday, 12th January.

Year 6 have been learning how to play basketball during their Games lessons and put all these skills into practise!

Lady J 1 were in a group with Kennington, Mersham, Wittersham and Challock. They played fantastically, winning 2 matches, drawing 1 and losing to the eventual winners of the group, Challock. They came 2nd in their group, being the winners by 1 point. An amazing achievement.

Lady J 2 played against St Teresa’s, Kennington, Aldington and Phoenix. They managed to win all 4 of their matches resulting in them winning the group.

This means Lady J2 will go through to the Ashford finals, playing the winners of another basketball tournament held at John Wallis, on Thursday. Good luck to all involved!

Basketball Tournament

Well done to the team of 8 who went to the basketball finals. Isobel, Ellen, May, Anya Ewan, Kyle, Matthew and Daniel all played fantastically. Their team work, dedication and enthusiasm could not be faulted. This wasn’t the easiest event we have been to but the attitude of all eight made me incredibly proud to be accompanying them. Having realised we couldn’t win the finals after a draw and a loss, the team decided to play for fun. The absence of pressure showed what brilliant basketball players they all are and, without any physicality, they played with skill. Coming 5th in the whole of Ashford has made me an incredibly proud teacher.
