Bad weather procedures
In the event of bad weather we have set out a basic procedure, which should help to minimise confusion.
WE WILL ALSO POST OUR SCHOOL CLOSURE ON THE HOME PAGE OF OUR WEBSITE AS SOON AS A DECISION HAS BEEN MADE!
If, before school, weather conditions are poor and access to Wye difficult, parents should listen to BBC Radio Kent on West Kent 1602 kHz; 96.7 VHF; 96.7 FM; 1602 medium; East Kent 744 kHz and 104.2 VHF or Invicta Radio on West Kent 1242kHz; 603 AM Capital Gold; 103.1 VHF; 102.8 Invicta FM; East Kent on 603 kHz and 102.8 VHF for news about the school. Messages will be transmitted in the weekday breakfast show (around half past the hour between 0530 and 0900) and/or the weekday evening "Kent Tonight" (again on the half-hour between 1700 and 2000). Appropriate information will also be broadcast on Sunday evenings around 18.30hrs. You may also check for school closures on the kmfm and BBC Kent websites (see links at the bottom).
If you are still in doubt telephone the school (01233 812781) for information from 7.30am onwards.
If the weather deteriorates during school time, we will contact parents and advise them, where possible, to collect children. No child will be sent home before the end of school without parent's consent. Likewise, parents should contact the school for information, or to advise us if they are experiencing difficulty in collecting their children.
Please ensure that your emergency person is aware of the school procedure and that you have made arrangements for children to stay with that person in the event of there being problems. This particularly applies to children using public transport. We will not allow children onto the bus until we have established that there is someone to receive them at the other end.
